Comparison of Two Dexamethasone Intervention Time Points in Reducing Post-Operative Sequelae of Mandibular Fracture Osteosynthesis

Background: Mandibular fracture osteosynthesis comes with mechanical and thermal assaults to surrounding tissues resulting in the sequelae of pain, trismus, oedema. Dexamethasone is known reduce these sequelae; swelling varying outcomes, lack a standardized regimen for its optimal effect maxillofacial surgery remains cause concern researchers.
 Objective: To compare two dexamethasone intervention time points reducing post-operative mandibular osteosynthesis
 Methods: A total 102 subjects body fractures age bracket 20-60 years were recruited into study divided preoperative, intraoperative, control groups. 4mg was injected via submucosal route intact mucogingival area below line, one hour before making incision preoperative group, at intraoperative injection same volume 0.9% normal saline preoperatively group. Following osteosynthesis, postoperative sequelae, complications assessed on days 1, 3, 7.
 Results: There reduction swelling, trismus both test groups compared significant observed group.
 Conclusion: Our results showed that administration submucous reduces after pain.
